Below is the whiteboard we used for the questions. The left hand column with "bonus, numbers etc." was left uncovered, and the rest of the board was covered with pieces of paper with a score corresponding to the difficulty of the question (100, 200 or 300). There were three teams of four, and they would have turns calling out a category, e.g. "translate, 300 points". If they couldn't get it, it would be up to the other two teams to compete for the question.
All of the answers they had to give were facts relating to the Badi calendar. Example answers are below. Give it a go first!
Translate: All things - "Kull-i-shay", a grouping of 19 vahids. Baha - glory, the first month, and the first day in each month. Badi - wondrous/splendour/beginnings: the name of this calendar. Unity - "vahid": a grouping of 19 years. Istijlal: majesty, thursday.
History: 1844 - the year the Badi calendar starts counting from. Bayan - the book in which the calendar was first described. Baha'u'llah officiated the calendar and clarified some points therein. Shiah prayer - from which the names of the Badi months come.
Days: Vernal equinox - the Bahai new year. First day of each month: Feast. (or Baha). Day of rest is Friday (Istiqlal - independence). Sunset - when the Bahai day starts. Days beyond time - the period of Ayyamiha.
Misc: we fast during 'Ala - the last Bahai month. The days, months, years etc are named after attributes of God. 3 portions of feast: devotional, consultation and social. Activities of Ayyamiha: gift giving, charity, hospitality etc. Numberical value of Ha is 5.
